Ingrédients

  • 4medium to large apples
  • (about 1 pound), peeled, coredand cut into ½-inch pieces
  • 2tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2tablespoons water
  • 1tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¼teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1cinnamon stick

Preparation

  1. 1. Put all ingredients in a medium to large
  2. saucepan set over medium-low heat.
  3. Partially cover, bring mixture to a simmer;
  4. reduce heat to low to allow to cook down
  5. slightly, about 30 minutes. Apples should be
  6. knife-tender, but still maintaining their shape.
  7. 2. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  8. Remove cinnamon stick and serve warm
  9. or chilled.
