Ingrédients

  • 16 cups popped popcorn
  • 4tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾cup dry yellow or white cake mix
  • 1½ cups white chocolate chips, melted
  • 2teaspoons vegetable oil
  • ½cup rainbow nonpareils or sprinkles, or a
  • combination

Preparation

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 300°F. Line a baking sheet
  2. with parchment paper; reserve.
  3. 2. Put the popcorn in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle
  4. the butter over the popcorn; toss to coat.
  5. Spread on the prepared baking sheet. Sift the
  6. cake mix over the popcorn and toss to evenly
  7. coat. Bake the popcorn for 10 minutes, tossing
  8. once halfway through baking. (This step, known
  9. as heat treating, cooks off the raw taste of flour
  10. in the cake mix and eliminates any risk of
  11. harmful bacteria that can be found in raw
  12. ingredients.) Transfer to a wire rack to cool
  13. completely.
  14. 3. Once the popcorn is cool, dip a fork into the
  15. white chocolate, and drizzle from the tines of
  16. the fork onto the popcorn, reserving a little of
  17. the chocolate. Sprinkle most of the nonpareils
  18. and/or sprinkles evenly over the top. Transfer to
  19. the freezer to set.
  20. 4. Break up the coated popcorn and arrange so
  21. any bare pieces of popcorn are exposed.
  22. Drizzle with the remaining white chocolate and
  23. then add the remaining nonpareils and/or
  24. sprinkles.
  25. 5. Return to the freezer to set. When the chocolate
  26. is firm, remove from the freezer and serve
  27. immediately.
