I read on an earlier post that the DCC-2600C and the CBC-14PC1C that Costco sells are very similar.  However, I recently purchased the CBC-14PC1C from Costco and the brew pause feature does not seem to work, can you confirm this unit has this feature?

Is the charcoal water filter necessary in the operation of this coffee maker? Can the charcoal filter just be removed?

What's the filter basket purpose? "Remove the filter basket by grasping the handle and lifting straight up, and then place it on the countertop. Insert a #4 paper filter or permanent filter". I don't understand if we have to buy extra filters

We're on Number 2 of this style - first the tubes came off and we had a large mess. I took it apart to fix it, but to no avail.  Bought another one, and after two months, its taking forever to brew. We've cleaned it. Today nothing worked. Ahhh!
